November 2025 – with the help of CISWO a grant was secured towards the installation of solar panels on the main building. We have still to secure further funding, but when the project is completed it will not only save money on our energy bills but make a significant impact on reducing our carbon footprint. May 2025 – we were informed by the Postcode Lottery that local residents within WS15 area had won the Millionaire Street prize. As we were previous applicants to the Community Programme Trust a further award was made. This has funded repairs to the building, which was constructed in 1966, and upgrades to the CCTV system. May 2021 – Project ID 20164577 – an award from the National Lottery Awards for All Community Fund contributed towards our project around fire safety improvement. Fire resistant windows were fitted in the kitchen. The fire alarm system was upgraded and extended to include extra call points and smoke/heat detectors. www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/

November 2020 – we were awarded funds which helped us with our commitment to addressing the issue of climate change by lowering our CO2 emissions. In line with our Environmental and Sustainability Policy at the same time as the premises had a total re-wire thought was given to lowering our energy consumption. All light fittings were converted to LED and occupancy sensors were fitted in all toilet facilities and storage areas. www.postcodelocaltrust.org.uk/

December 2020 – Coronavirus grant funding was sought to keep the welfare centre running whilst the country was in lockdown due to the COVID pandemic. Together Active helped with funding for core costs which included electricity, gas security, waste and hygiene bills. togetheractive.org/

December 2020 – the Doing Our Bit Community Fund was developed by Staffordshire County Council and partner organisations to share ideas about how to make Staffordshire an even better place to live and work. They contributed towards our energy bills at a time when the centre was struggling to keep open during the COVID pandemic. doingourbit.uk/

May 2021 – a grant was awarded from the Community Asset Fund for the development of our Project ‘Roof repairs’. The award comprised a capital award to cover the cost of replacing the main roof and an award for a consultant to support us in developing a fundraising plan for further required works to the building. A Sarnafil high performance waterproof membrane top coat was applied and improved roof insulation installed to help reduce heating bills. www.sportengland.org/funding-and-campaigns/our-funding

March 2021 – the Charities Aid Foundation Emergency Grant was set up during the COVID pandemic. We benefited from funding for core costs. April 2020 – this Sport England Lottery Award assisted the welfare centre during the COVID pandemic. Their Community Emergency Fund helped pay energy, water, and insurance bills. www.actiontogether.org.uk/sport-england-small-grants-programme

July 2018 – each year County Councillors are given £2500 to allocate to good causes in their local community. Local Councillor Alan Dudson donated towards the centres refurbishment project. A scaffolding tower was purchased. Not only would this be used for the project itself but in the future when changing light bulbs and fittings at height.
