Education

As part of the junior school curriculum local children are given the opportunity to visit Lea Hall to find out more about Rugeley’s coal mining heritage. The Memorial Wall in the grounds is the focal point for these visits. The children are encouraged to look for the names of relatives or names matching their own. Retired miners give their time freely and are always eager to talk about their time underground and show items of clothing and equipment to the children to bring the history alive.
